ROAD CLOSURE -WATER ACCESS ONLY

Due to a severe weather event in July 2021, the Kenepuru Road has been closed while major roadworks were being undertaken.

Road Now Reopening for our Visitors

Following safety assessments of works on Kenepuru Road, the Marlborough Roads team and Marlbrorough District Council have decided that the 15.6km section of the road from Moetapu Bay Road to the roadside of house number 2071 Kenepuru Road (RP 20.39), will be open to Public Access from 5pm on Tuesday 21 December. This is located just past Te Mahia Bay Resort.

This opening on the 21st December 2021 means the public can go by road to places such as Double Bay, Ohingaroa Bay, Ohinetaha Bay, Broughton Bay, Te Mahia Bay, and Mistletoe and Onahau bays.

A new guardhouse stationed on the roadside of 2071 Kenepuru Road will mark the end of the Public Access. This manned guardhouse will check passes and IDs for the Controlled Access beyond this point.

Please note: There is no public parking at 2071 Kenepuru Road. Public parking is available in two locations at Linkwater

Some clients may still wish to to book alternative water taxi transport either from Picton to Onahau (Waterfall Bay) or Havelock to Te Mahia. To support residents and visitors to the region the Marlborough District Council is subsidizing water transport $25 per person per trip. Our Te Mahia team will meet you at the Onahau (Waterfall) or Te Mahia wharf to assist with transportation of guests and luggage- so please advise us of your arrival times and numbers traveling.

To coordinate your water taxi bookings please contact the Marlborough i-Site on 0800 777 181 or email: bookings@nullmarlboroughnz.com promo code: KENEPURU
