Things To Do
Relaxing on the beach
Te Mahia Beach has a wonderful beach for guests use. It is one of the few places in the Marlborough Sounds where the beach nestles alongside the lawns, gardens and decks of the resort. A truly unique feature of your holiday.
Having fun on the water
Getting out on the water with your own boat, jet ski or kayak is easy. As a guest of the Resort we will launch your boat for you and safe secure moorings are available.
Kayaks are also available at the resort for hire.
Te Mahia Fishing Charters
Catching a renowned Kenepuru Snapper
Fishing charters are available and can be booked through Reception or you can bring your own boat or just fish off the wharf – it could be the fishing experience of your life! We have all the contacts for that essential local knowledge.
Walking on the Queen Charlotte Track
It’s a 20 minute walk up to the Queen Charlotte Track. Go for a wander along the track up to the Te Mahia lookout, or a serious walk to Portage or Lochmara Lodge for lunch. Escape into the mystery of the beech forest and ferns of the Vogel Track down to Mistletoe Bay, or loop back around via the peninsula walk to Te Mahia.
Dining Options
Reservations can be made at Reception for a wonderful lunch or evening dining experience at the Portage Resort Hotel, just 15 min by road or water taxi. Or experience Raetihi Lodge, only 10 min by water taxi.
Or have a beautifully boxed Gourmet Meal or hot stone grilled pizza delivered to your room.
Reading and relaxing
Sit on the beach in the sun for a quiet read (dozing off to the sound of the waves on the shore) or relax in the comfort of your unit with a selection of books and magazines from your own library in your room.
Whether its fishing, bush walking reading or relaxing Te Mahia is THE destination.
